Who is a responsible representative / professional guarantor?

A responsible representative is a natural person appointed by an entrepreneur to ensure the proper operation of a trade and to oversee compliance with all legal regulations related to the business. Simply put, it is a professionally qualified individual who guarantees that the business is conducted in accordance with the law.

When and why is a responsible representative required?

If an entrepreneur does not meet the professional qualification requirements necessary to operate a specific trade (so-called regulated trades), they must appoint a responsible representative. According to Section 11(1) of Act No. 455/1991 Coll., on Trade Licensing, an entrepreneur may carry out a trade through such a representative.

This representative must meet both the general and specific requirements set for the given field. However, they cannot “replace” basic conditions such as the entrepreneur’s integrity (clean criminal record) or minimum age. The entrepreneur always remains ultimately responsible to the authorities for the operation of the trade.

Service fee

The price for providing a responsible representative typically ranges between CZK 48,000 and CZK 96,000 per year (excluding VAT), depending on the specific trade and the terms of cooperation.
